Artist's Statement

In my artistic journey, I have traversed from the vibrant cityscape of Los Angeles, California, to the coastal tranquility of San Diego. This geographical transition has undeniably influenced my work, infusing it with a distinct coastal feel that resonates throughout my paintings.

A fundamental aspect of my artistic practice lies in the integration of texture. Rooted in my love for the tactile nature of pottery making, I find a profound connection to the materiality of my art. Each stroke and layer is a testament to the synergy between my hands and the canvas, creating a palpable depth that invites viewers to engage not only visually but also through touch.

Nature, in all its captivating beauty, and the intricate dance of urban landscapes serve as perpetual wellsprings of inspiration for me. The interplay between these contrasting elements manifests in my work, capturing the essence of both organic serenity and urban dynamism. It is a reflection of the duality inherent in the world around us – a balance of chaos and harmony.

Color, for me, is a language of its own. I employ a layered approach, carefully building upon hues to construct abstract motifs that evoke emotions and stir the imagination. Each layer is a deliberate choice, a conscious decision to create a visual symphony that resonates with the complexities of human experience.

I bring to my art a culmination of formal education, having been artistically trained at San Diego State University, where I earned a bachelor's degree in advertising with a minor in fine art. This academic foundation has enriched my creative process, providing a structured backdrop to the intuitive exploration that defines my work.

In every piece, I strive to create a dialogue between the viewer and the artwork. It is an invitation to explore the intricacies of texture, immerse oneself in the coastal aura, and decipher the kaleidoscope of colors that narrate stories untold. My art is a celebration of the interconnectedness of nature, urban life, and the expressive power of texture and color. Through this journey, I aim to provide a visual haven where the observer can lose themselves in the interwoven narratives of my environment-influenced creations.
